Why capture and play media in the browser
A screen often shows mail, chats, or work in progress. These tools use the browser's own screen sharing prompt, so you choose exactly what to share, and the capture or recording is built in this tab. The video player opens a file from your device without uploading the clip.
How the screen and video tools work
- Open Screen image capture for a still image or Screen video recording for a clip.
- Allow screen sharing in the browser prompt and pick a screen, window, or tab.
- Crop or zoom the capture, or stop the recording when you are done.
- Save the image, or the WebM or MP4 recording. To watch a local file, open it in Video player.
